EL CONSULADO NYC to Debut KIOSKO at NADA Miami 2025

By EL CONSULADO NYC

New York, NY — October 14, 2025 — The New Art Dealers Alliance (NADA) has announced the 23rd edition of NADA Miami, taking place December 2–6, 2025, at Ice Palace Studios in Miami, Florida. Recognized since 2003 as one of the world’s leading contemporary art fairs, NADA Miami highlights experimentation, emerging practices, and new artistic voices from around the globe.

This year, EL CONSULADO NYC, a Venezuelan artist collective based in New York, has been selected to present its groundbreaking outdoor sculptural project, KIOSKO, during Miami Art Week 2025.

About EL CONSULADO NYC and KIOSKO

Founded in response to the lack of institutional representation for Venezuelan artists in the United States, EL CONSULADO NYC operates as a self-managed, artist-run collective that empowers contemporary Venezuelan creators in New York and internationally. Working beyond traditional gallery models, the collective functions as a platform for collaboration, experimentation, and cultural exchange.

KIOSKO is a hybrid sculptural installation inspired by Latin American kiosks and street newsstands. Reimagined as a living archive and performative space, it merges public sculpture, participatory installation, and collective publishing. Both functional and symbolic, KIOSKO proposes new models of cultural visibility and community exchange within the global art market.

For its debut presentation, KIOSKO will showcase a curated selection of small-format works, multiples, publications, sound pieces, and hybrid digital objects by over 40 Venezuelan artists from the diaspora, representing a diverse spectrum of contemporary practices.

Activation at NADA Miami 2025

Throughout the fair, KIOSKO will host a series of dynamic activations, including:

  • Artist interventions, performances, and live interactions
  • “Consular sessions”, participatory dialogues with visitors
  • Curated presentations exploring Venezuelan art’s innovation, resilience, and collective identity

By transforming the conventional art fair booth into an itinerant structure—part embassy, part street vendor, part archive— KIOSKO addresses themes of mobility, access, and alternative economies of scale. The installation challenges how art is distributed, represented, and experienced across borders.

A Meeting Point for the Diaspora

In Miami, a city deeply connected to the Venezuelan diaspora, KIOSKO will operate as both a meeting point and broadcasting station, amplifying the voices of artists whose work transcends geography.

“Our objective is to experiment with values beyond traditional art market structures,” said the collective. “Through portable, interactive formats, we invite the public to reconsider collectability, authorship, and cultural distribution.”

Historical Context: Datos históricos — KIOSKO by El Consulado NYC

Over the past two decades, several Venezuelan artist collectives have emerged in New York, often formed organically around exhibitions, residencies, and experimental spaces. Initiatives such as Territorio Visceral — a collaborative exhibition by Lisu Vega and Juan Henríquez curated by Dainy Tapia — and the Venezuela Art Fair (VAF) have sought to make diaspora practices visible while creating networks of mutual support and circulation.

The New Art Dealers Alliance (NADA), based in New York, is an organization dedicated to supporting and promoting new voices in contemporary art. While Venezuelan artists have previously participated in fairs such as NADA Miami and Art Basel Miami, most of these appearances have been individual or institutionally driven presentations.

In this context, KIOSKO by EL CONSULADO NYC marks a significant milestone: the first documented collective Venezuelan space at NADA Miami (2025), where more than 40 artists converge in a project of memory, collaboration, and community. More than an exhibition, KIOSKO stands as a curatorial gesture that consolidates a collective model of visibility and artistic experimentation within the diaspora.
