NEW YORK, NY — August 14, 2026 — In response to the devastating earthquakes that struck Venezuela on June 24, EL CONSULADO will present Coast Echoes, a new immersive video installation created for Artists United for Venezuela — NYC Edition, taking place September 10, 2026, at The Chocolate Factory in Brooklyn.
Artists, musicians, organizers, and members of the Venezuelan diaspora will come together for the event as part of a collective fundraising effort, with proceeds supporting organizations providing relief in Venezuela, including World Central Kitchen.
Within that larger effort, Coast Echoes offers another form of response: an immersive space for memory, reflection, and collective resilience, as well as an opportunity to discover and support the continuing cultural work of EL CONSULADO.

About Coast Echoes
Coast Echoes is an immersive installation conceived by EL CONSULADO in response to the June 24 earthquakes.
The work evokes the Venezuelan coast as a space suspended between memory and transformation. Through projected moving images, architecture emerges from the landscape and rises again, creating a meditation on absence, return, reconstruction, and collective resilience.
Rather than reproducing images of destruction, Coast Echoes asks what it means to remember a place through what survives: landscape, sound, architecture, movement, and the people who continue to carry that place with them.
The installation surrounds the viewer, making the public physically present within the work.
Art Can Build Continuity
EL CONSULADO was founded by Venezuelan artists and cultural workers in New York as a self-managed platform for artistic exchange, cultural memory, and the Venezuelan diaspora.
Art can gather people, preserve memory, create visibility, and help build cultural infrastructure where little exists. It can also allow conversations begun through temporary encounters to continue after an exhibition ends.
Coast Echoes exists for one night. The work of building spaces for Venezuelan artists, ideas, histories, and communities does not.

Where Your Contribution Goes
Contributions support EL CONSULADO and our ongoing artistic and cultural programs, helping us develop and present artist-led exhibitions, immersive installations, publications, public programs, digital initiatives, and other projects that create visibility, circulation, and opportunities for Venezuelan artists in Venezuela and across the diaspora.
This work includes projects such as KIOSKO, our collective platform for Venezuelan contemporary art. Following the June 24 earthquakes, KIOSKO became a space for collective action through a solidarity fundraiser presented at Henrique Faria | New York by eugenia sucre • projects as part of Venezuelan Cultural Diplomacy.
The initiative generated US$13,849 in sales across 54 artworks and artist-made objects, with proceeds benefiting World Central Kitchen’s relief efforts in Venezuela. Henrique Faria | New York also donated its gallery commission to the fundraiser.
That experience reflects a broader principle behind EL CONSULADO: cultural infrastructure can create visibility and exchange while also mobilizing communities when circumstances demand it.
Contributions made directly to EL CONSULADO support EL CONSULADO itself, giving us the capacity to continue building that infrastructure and creating projects such as Coast Echoes, KIOSKO, and the exhibitions, publications, and cultural initiatives that will follow.
Donations are processed through our fiscal sponsor, The Field. Contributions may be tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law, and supporters may retain the acknowledgment issued through The Field for tax purposes. Supporters are also publicly acknowledged on our website unless they prefer to remain anonymous.

About EL CONSULADO
EL CONSULADO is an artist-run collective dedicated to supporting Venezuelan diasporic artistic practices through exhibitions, editorial projects, public programs, and community-centered cultural initiatives. Founded in response to the diminishing institutional representation of Venezuelan art abroad, the collective builds alternative cultural infrastructure for visibility, circulation, and exchange.
