Marco Antonio Guerrero Robles
Visual Artist
New York
Marco Antonio Guerrero (Caracas, Venezuela) is a Fine Art photographer and director of photography based in New York. His work stems from a silent observation of the world—bodies, structures, and landscapes where form exists on the verge of disappearance. He has lived and worked in various countries, including Argentina and the United States, which has shaped his attentive gaze toward distance, geometry, and light as a physical substance. Working in medium format with 120 mm film, he explores the permanence of the instant and the restrained beauty of reality. His work, marked by a sober aesthetic and formal precision, is part of private collections and international projects.

Exercises of Arrival is structured through medium-format analog photography with the intention of restoring a mode of presence that contemporary digital visuality no longer sustains. The silver-gelatin surface functions as a photosensitive plane where light is inscribed through a physical-chemical reaction that preserves the trace of the event itself. In this process, the image is not produced as computation, numerical interpolation, or algorithmic synthesis; it emerges from a direct encounter between the world and the material support. This specificity establishes a fundamental distance from digital models and from AI-generated imagery, which lacks phenomenological origin and is constructed in the absence of a tangible referent. Within the series, the human figure appears before the horizon through minimal, almost austere gestures that suspend the logic of productivity and visual acceleration characteristic of the present. The framing adheres to a strict economy of elements, organizing space through voids, silences, and distances that recalibrate the relationship between body and landscape. Here, negativity does not operate as absence but as an active structural principle that shapes perception and opens an interval for sustained observation. As a whole, the work proposes a mode of looking that slows down the visual experience and resists the compulsive circulation of images dominating the digital environment. Each photograph asserts the materiality of the medium, the specificity of the moment, and the persistence of the body against the ongoing dematerialization of the referent. In this sense, Exercises of Arrival revalues the image as a physical and verifiable event, reinstating a more precise dialogue between what is seen, what is recorded, and what is thought.
