Bacalao Men

Experimental Music Band

Caracas, Venezuela

Bacalao Men is a groundbreaking Venezuelan band formed in Caracas in 1999, known for its vibrant fusion of Afro-Caribbean rhythms, funk, rock, and electronic music. With core contributors such as Pablo Estacio and Sebastián Araujo, alongside composer and lyricist Carlos Eduardo Troconis, the band developed a distinctive, high-energy sound often described as a "groovy and bizarre futuristic salsa planet." This experimental ethos has remained central throughout their discography, including acclaimed albums such as El Nuevo Bugalú, Sabaneando, and Sangre. Their innovative approach has earned significant recognition, including the Best Album of the Year award from Venezuela’s Fundación Nuevas Bandas for El Nuevo Bugalú, as well as awards for Best Song and Best Production for "El Comegente."
